How are at-home kits different from what you’d buy at the store or online? We use a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide in our bleach that isn’t sold over the counter. It’s completely safe and the same bleach that we use in our office.
In addition, you’ll receive custom-fitted dental trays to use. When using a teeth whitening kit in Westwood, MA, you can expect to see results within one to two weeks.
How At-Home Teeth Whitening Works
Everything you’ll receive in our teeth whitening kit is custom to you and not something you can buy off of a shelf in your local big-name store. One of the first things we’ll do at your appointment is to take impressions of both your upper and lower teeth.
We do this using a non-toxic dental putty. The impressions are sent off to a lab to make personalized trays and take between one and two weeks to complete. The initial shade of your teeth would be recorded in your dental chart for comparison when the whitening is completed.
Once the trays are ready and at our office, you’ll come in for an appointment where we’ll show you how to use the trays and bleaching solution. Now is the time to ask questions about the process.
Whitening your teeth at home is typically performed an hour per day for two weeks. Westwood Dental Group asks that you avoid eating, drinking, or smoking while wearing the trays and continue to do the same for 30 minutes after.
